Ativan Litigation

Although Ativan's manufacturer, Wyeth, admitted in the 1980's that long term use of the drug should be avoided because of possible dangers, it has always claimed before this time that the drug was harmless. Several years ago, a popular Sunday newspaper in the UK reported that they had evidence to show that even directors at Wyeth had expressed concerns in the past about the dangers of Ativan. Also reported is that one medical director at Wyeth, who was involved in the UK trials where Ativan was originally launched, had admitted that he had not been asked to undertake trials relating to the safety of prescribing the drug for a matter of months. He stated that he thought his was because "there was nothing to be gained by them, but everything to lose in the sense we could be courting disaster".
