Thimerosal Dangers
Thimerosal is a preservative that was used in medicines and vaccines to kill
bacteria. It is a cheap, effective way to improve the shelf life of vaccinations
and medicines, reducing the cost of storing and shipping medicine. The problem
with Thimerosal is that it contains a large amount of a highly toxic form
of mercury, nearly 49.6% by weight. Thimerosal has been long suspected of
causing mercury poisoning and autism in infants and children.
Mercury Exposure
Mercury is a toxic (poisonous) heavy metal, known to cause severe birth
defects, damage to the central nervous system, immune system and renal failure.
All of us are exposed to small amounts of mercury every day. There is mercury
in silver dental fillings, and in much of the seafood we eat. Normally, this
amount of mercury poses little or no threat to the health of a typical adult.
Thimerosal contains a highly toxic from of mercury, which is up to 50 times
more harmful that the mercury normally found in the environment. When an infant
is vaccinated, this heavy metal is injected directly into the child's bloodstream.
(This is far worse than ingesting the metal.) To make matters worse, infants
and children develop so rapidly that they are much more susceptible to mercury
than an adult. Within the first two years of life, many children have already
been injected with enough toxic mercury to far exceed acceptable "safe" levels.
Autism
Autism is a combination of impairments involving language and communication,
sensory dysfunction, abnormal movements and problems with social relatedness.
People who suffer from this syndrome may exhibit a need for sameness and routine.
Thimerosal, a preservative frequently added to childhood vaccines, has become
a major source of Mercury in infants. Medical literature and U.S. government
data indicates that:
- Most cases of idiopathic autism, in which an extended period of normal
development is followed by an emergence of symptoms, can be blamed on early
exposure to mercury.
- This type of autism represents a unique form of Mercury poisoning.
- Excessive mercury exposure from Thimerosal in vaccine injections is responsible
for causing the traits of autism
- Certain genetic and non-genetic factors establish a predisposition whereby
thimerosal's adverse effects occur only in some children
- Vaccinations containing thimerosal are causing a previously unrecognized
syndrome
Remember: The damage to the brain done by thimerosal my show up
anytime in a child's development, and may not be immediately apparent after
the initial exposure.
On July 7, 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the US Public Health
Service issued a joint statement finally calling for removal of thimerosal,
a mercury-containing preservative, from vaccines. Despite the concerns,
the CDC encourages all parents to have their children vaccinated. Yet
the major drug manufactures have not recalled existing stock of medicines
containing this toxic compound.
