Tire Recall Lawsuits
The recall of defective Firestone/Bridgestone tires has been center stage in
all product liability and defective tire recall news stories. Bridgestone
/ Firestone was forced to recall millions of their ATX, ATX II and
Firestone Wilderness radial tires due to tire tread separation causing Sport
Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to lose control roll over and ultimately
injure or terminate one's life.
In a recent lawsuit against Firestone Tires, a California
lawyer is demanding Bridgestone Corp's US unit recall
27.5 million tires. The suit claims that the Steeltex
tires suffer from similar tread separation incidents
that caused Firestone to recall 7 million tires 2 years
ago. The lawyer is seeking class action status and
the recall could cost Firestone/Bridgestone as much
as 2.75 billion
Attorneys handling the case for the prosecution have
received and studied reports from consumers and government
entities from all sections of the United States alleging
significant tire damage and vehicle mishaps resulting
from the Steeltex tires' alleged defects.
Specifically, the suit involves the Steeltex R4S, R4SII
and A/T tires. Plaintiffs claim the tires contain
a lamination defect that can cause the tread to separate
from the rest of the tire in a few seconds, causing
total destruction of the tire.
The firm recently handled another lawsuit against
Firestone relating to a Steeltex tire blowout and resulting
in multiple deaths and injuries. That suit was settled
for an undisclosed amount.
If you or someone you know suffered injury or death
due to an accident involving Steeltex tires you may
be entitled to compensation.
